The language programme at Redwood focuses on communication skills, vocabulary, speaking, listening, literature, grammar, and writing. The child pursues each of these separate skills involved in the mastery of reading and writing at his or her own pace. Exercises include rhyming games, matching objects to pictures, sandpaper letters, and language cards. At this stage children happily absorb many difficult concepts when they meet them in concrete forms. All Montessori activities have indirect aims, which once again aid the development of another area without the child being aware of the miracles taking place.
